North Carolina already has a plan for you. You just don't get a say in it.
State law decides who inherits. If you can't make your own decisions, your family may have to go to court for permission to help you. If you have young children, a judge decides who raises them.
And whatever you leave behind goes through probate with the Clerk of Superior Court, often for six months to a year, with fees and costs coming out of the estate.
